iPhone and Rogers: EDGE Settings

After the unlock/activation the obvious calling and SMS works. The voicemail button dials the Rogers Voicemail number. But there is no Visual Voicemail (obviously) and there is no new voicemail notification. I haven't tried to use the EDGE internet access coz rT is afraid of getting monster Data usage bills but if anyone want to heres how: Setup the carrier’s specific APN server, username and password in the appropriate fields under Settings–>General–>Network–>EDGE. For Rogers, these are: APN: internet.com Username: wapuser1 Password: wap

unless you have a super awesome data plan with rogers i dont think its advisable to setup EDGE on the phone. You'll have to give up the shirt off your back to pay off the bills!

Rogers has a 1 GB data plan ("PC Card Plan") for $65/month and you should be able to get 750 mins of voice for another $45 (on special). I use this combination for my iPhone and it works fine. 1 GB is probably more data than you'll need. I'm on WiFi most of the time and I did less than 100 MB via EDGE last month. Currently this seems to be the best GSM data/voice combo if you have an iPhone in Canada; only a grandfathered Fido "all you can eat" data plan might cost less.

65$ is much.. what with Bell offering unlimited data for $7 !! Rogers needs to buck up...

The data price drop for Bell, as well for Telus, was only recent. Rogers data prices are still sky high to give other providers a fair chance until Canada gets the GSM iPhone, which only works on Rogers and Fido.

Ooops... Just tried it on a Rogers pay-as-you-go account... Won;t be doing that again: ONE Facebook page (iPhone version) just cost me $8!

fido and rogers now have the unlimited surfing packages....7$ as a stand alone option and 20$ with a value bundle that offers 2500 txt msgs, voicemail, call and name display, who called, etc...

when i called in to change from the 18$ value pack that included 12mb and the additional options they confirmed that i have never been billed for usage, all this with my IPHONE! so go for it and you SHOULD be ok if you have an iphone or other device!

Just looked it up on the rogers site... according to them, the $7 unlimited data is only available on select phones and is not available for PDAs such as Blackberry or Windows Mobile devices.
If this is the case, how does one go about getting this plan for an iPhone without Rogers suddenly charging you a per KB rate?
